I’m Eric Mann. I’ve spent more than twenty years building software and the systems it runs on, most of that time focused on security: building security programs, getting cloud platforms through government authorization, and designing systems that keep data encrypted end to end. I’ve led teams of every size along the way.
In the PHP world, I’m one of the release managers for PHP 8.3 and 8.4. I wrote the PHP Cookbook for O’Reilly and Security Principles for PHP Applications for PHP Architect, and I’ve written the monthly Security Corner column in PHP Architect magazine since 2017. I also speak at conferences across the PHP, DevOps and security communities.
What you’ll find here
This blog is where I think out loud, and has been since 2007. Nearly 900 posts later it covers technology and security, business, faith, opinion, and a journal of shorter, more personal notes. Longer runs of related posts are collected as series.
I also write fiction. Serials, short stories and my books in print all live under Writing.
